The Sonja Noel exhibition at the Brussels’s Fashion and Lace Museum
Sonja Noel was inviting personally each and every guest to her exhibition (which she curated with her own daughter Aya Noel) at Brussels’s Fashion and Lace Museum, which was crowded as never before! Belgian Fashion Beaumont came to pay tribute to Sonja in style for her exhibition “40+years in STIJL”! A wonderful retrospective of her last 40 years has been masterly shown on a wall! It is accompanied by 60 iconic pieces of the clothes from the last 40 years, which were sold at her STIJL boutique at Rue Dansaert!
Dries van Noten, Martin Margiela, Ann Demeulemeester, Marina Yee, Dirk Bikkembergs, Ralf Simons, Rick Owens, Sophie D’Hoor, Toos Franken and many more designers who are also new on the market! Sonja has created a multibrand store and a bridge between the designers’ s visions and the wearer’s intimate garderobes! She has become a translator “par excellence” and a true Ambassador of Belgian fashion not only to the local creative community, but to the international one as well, yet keeping the authenticity alive of the street and the neighborhood, it belongs! She is from the block and a pioneer of the artistic movement and the cultural scene of the Belgian fashion!

Her clothes never has been commercial and a hunt for various fashionistas, who would like to show off their wealth and statuses! The public, who wears the clothes which Sonja offers distinguishes itself societally with times-less style and special cultural codes! The bespoke cut and quality are the priority as well! And the slice of Belgian Surrealism! What could we do without it?

After the official opening we were invited to attend a special festive reception at The City Hall of Brussels on the Grand Place! The Alder(wo)man for Culture of Brussels City: Delphine Houba congratulated all of us with the opening of the exhibition and with the 40th Jubilee of the STIJL boutique!

The final word was Sonja’s, translated in English by her daughter Aya about all, who made it possible: the shop and the expo! We were treated with a wonderful artistic reception afterwards with an extravagant catering with the food and the ambiance! Everything was in style yesterday for all!

I was asked by Sonja Noel to take care of guided tours (in Russian language) at the fashionable Rue Dansaert and the exhibition in the museum, which I would be doing with my pleasure and pride! I will be pregnant with such the opportunity to tell also my story about STIJL and Co. for the upcoming 9 months of the exhibition! Come over to me!
