Collectible design is a special term, which projects “the one of the kind” piece of design, which is unique, authentic and meant to be sold for a collector, design lover or aficionado!

Apparently many designers are busy with making such the haut couture design and collecting it with great pleasure and much fun!

This march is pregnant with collectible design events in Brussels, starting from HOME SWEET HOME exhibition at MAD Brussels, where we all can enjoy an exhibition about birds houses, where MAD had invited various international designers to brainstorm about what the birdhouse could be and how different it could be! The exhibition showcases a huge egg at the entrance of the exhibition, as a symbol of  birth, beginning new life! Just before Easter!

Simultaneously there are three more events on collectible design in the city, which celebrates collectible design as special unique happening and giving a good reason to visit Brussels!

At Villa Empain, Fondation Boghossian has organized jointly with Zaventem Ateliers, under Lionel Jadot’s leadership, with Object with Narratives and the Embassy of France participation, another exhibition, where collectible design is in focus: A prototype of reality! Carefully scenographered exposition with Belgian designers, who put their work into the interiors of historical Villa Empain! This expo is only for 10 days there, hurry up!

Objects with Narratives Gallery at Grand Sablon 40, not only participated in this exposition at Villa Empain with designers such as Studio Krijst and Ben Storms, it opened its own one with a huge party, taking place there! The first floor of the building was turned into a night club, with a DJ and exclusive lamps for those who would like to buy and collect them!

And last, but not least location for collectible design is the annual COLLECTIBLE Fair, taking place at Espace Vanderborg, just off the Grand Place of Brussels! It became a Mekka for collectible design, not only in Brussels, but since previous year in New York as well! Two adventurers Liv and Clelie are the masterminds and co-founders of this fair! Expect young and ambitious international designers to be showcased there with their versions of collectibles! There are different curated parts!

All in all, it’s very promising to have this collectable topic very high on the agendas nowadays in Brussels!
