The cultural season in Brussels has started with a big bang! After RendezVous Fair and just finished Brussels Art Square artistic festival, it’s a high time for Brussels Design Week to be in the spotlight! After 20 years in town Brussels Design September has changed its name! But the idea behind, the content and the context are the same: the show case of the best design in Brussels! And there is a lot of it!

From talks to individual expositions of designers, Design Commerce Awards to Curated shows, from B2B meetings, from inside atelier visits to group shows, from garden parties to the celebration of the 20th Anniversary of this fair, which I admire much!

Brussels has many local talents, but also many international ones, who are based in this city! And all of them are eager to present their work during this period! And what a splash of colors and creativity is it! A true sensorium festival!

For the first time there is a central venue: AME!
The hub, hosted by AME, the new home of WOMADE! This 900m hybrid space combines a coworking space, a cafe and a retail space! The conference space and a modular stage! The Hub hosts a solo exhibition of Alain Giles, the festival press conference and three talks!

The secular Chapel is the name of the exhibition, which is based in the hotel now! There are ten designs, who presented their work there, which refers to the background of the Hotel: the former Dominican Monastery!

Some EU cultural institutes have been active in promoting theirs countrymen-designers! One should go and check out Prague House and Listz Hungarian Cultural Institute! Kudos to it! There are some B2B meetings in the city! Kartell Brussels has a B2B day and open its doors to the public with its flagship store!

Annual Commerce Design Award Ceremony highlights the best commercial design places in town, which are many! Just look around! Very charming small ateliers have opened their doors to the public with exhibitions, like Design in Residence! Bravo and chapeau to CC Agency, the co-owner of which lives inside it! The 20th Jubilee edition is magnificent and I congratulate the organizers of Brussels Design Week with it as well as all the participants!
