TEFAF is an annual fascinating Art Fair, which had two cities, hosting it: Maastricht and New York! TEFAF champions besproken expertise, excellence and diversity in and to the global art community! It’s a guide and a reference for private and institutional collectors, art lovers and connoisseurs and inspiring affisionados!
With its 277 galleries, from every where in the world, 50 000 flowers and the most international audience one can imagine, TEFAF spans 7000 years of art history from old masters to very new contemporary narratives! Such as design, fashion, culture and well-being! Everything in one flacon, but carefully organized and properly curated for sure!

The first two VIP days are specially chosen for collectors, sponsors, partners and galleries with invitations, everyone wants to have! The audience is very posh, exclusive, projecting wealth, health and a status quo of the elite! The most deals and sales are made during these two days, where champagne and oysters are the engine every visitor is exposed to! One can make a separate story about outfits of the visitors and the way they are behaving there!
The works from Rembrandt to Picasso, from Gerrit Ritveld to Delfs Blau, from Van Gogh to Chagal, from Japanese textiles to works on paper, so on and so forth! You name it! At the begging TEFAF was famous of its old masters! That was the time of different sorts of art elite! Nowadays you have the public with diverse backgrounds, colorful profiles and ages to go!

With partners such as J.P. Morgan, AXA, AON, ALAIA, TEFAF offers historical rediscoveries of exceptional art works of “museums quality”! There are Foundations, such as Prince Claus Fund, Kunstahale from Zurich and Utrecht’s Museum Fund, TEFAF’s restoration fund, which are taking care of different aspects, dealing with preservation of historical artifacts, looting art works and cultural identities! TEFAF holds since a couple of years back its Art Talks and meetings with art experts!
This year there will be another Art Business Conference, which will be organized in direct partnership with UNESCO in The Netherlands and which will highlight the transformative role of culture in economic, social and well-being outcomes and its participation in public policy. The launch of TEFAF’s economic report, which is produced in partnership with Deloitte Luxembourg is planned for the 16th of March! TEFAF tries to make its program interactive!

Maastricht celebrates this fair annually with much pleasure and opens its arms to visitors! Any kind of visitors, not only super wealthy ones and organizes various activities and off side events in the city! Cultural institutions are eager to show the city to the international public! With Bonnefanten Museum and Theatre aan het Vrijthof the city is a world class player!
My Alma-mater University of Maastricht celebrates its golden jubilee this year and has a stand inside TEFAF and offers a series of events outside of its historical buildings! I remember that I was introduced to TEFAF by our professors more than 20 years ago! Some of my former classmates from FASOS faculty are seasoned dealers and cultural managers!
