Flower Power in Brussels
While in the neighboring Fashion and Lace Museum there is still an exhibition about 40 years of STIJL going on, from the 13th until the 17th of August everyone could enjoy one of the most exquisite flower exhibitions ever!
And I mean the very City Hall of Brussels! I stil do remember, BTW, that memorable opening of the STIJL soirée’, also at the City Hall, where and when the fashion Beaumont came over to raise glasses for Sonia Noel’s Anniversary’s success! Her Fashion Empire!
This time is an annual FlowerTime and also dedicated, only 4 days (not 40 years!) to fashion and textiles, which Belgium could be very proud of as the country and the nation! 15 rooms of the city hall (including the Lord Mayor’s Office and The Wedding Room) were given to different 30 florists, who didn’t waste their times and created a true colorful sensorium festival out of this special space!

All the flowers are dancing, singing and hugging textiles of different shapes and forms, being comfortable in the space of power at the heart of the Grand Place! So, we can say that the organizers created a true “flower-power” experience for all of us! The visitors and the connaisseurs, all the guests! Flowers could be a part of any scene: interior design, a part of the special ceremony, also a body of emotions and deep feelings! Many visitors where communicating with them!

“Flowers Diplomacy” has been used by the Embassy of Mexico, to tell us about the Feast of the Death, where it’s totally in line with the traditional carnaval of that folklore! Lights is a big part of this show and one can see how impactful it can be with the flowers!

Suddenly the medieval fortress of the City Hall of Brussels, we know, untouchable and inaccessible, at least it looked like, has been transferred into a flowers castle with magic! Each and every visitor can interpret this story his/her way, but no one could leave the place untouched and unmoved! And it shows! The level of positivity and good vibes should be measured at the very exit of the building! It will be sky-high from the energy this show gives to all of us! Also the pride that this part of the world could give to the world much more than beer, chocolates and even jazz!

I wish that the flowers could occupy these historical rooms of the City Hall more often and influence the people, who are working here every day and make decisions! They can make not only this city, but the world a bit better place to live and love! Ars longa!
