BACK TO THE FUTURE was yesterday! It was feely and touchy to be back yesterday to the building, which I left 2,5 years ago and see it again in all its glory and glamour! It was OWN (“Objects With Narratives”), which took this magnificent building “The Grand Sablon 40” under its creative patronage and showed to the world what collectible design is all about, festering a carefully curated selection of pieces at the confluence of design, architecture and art! This majestic building, which was home for me 3 years ago will not only be a gallery, but also a national and international cultural hub that celebrates a new narrative for collectible design scene through diverse exhibitions, art programs and events! This concept is temporary!

Yesterday’s Grand Opening co-insided with the annual COLLECTIBLE, which is the only international platform, bringing together a selection of curated works of design for the 7th time in a raw, again at Vanderborght Building in the heart of Brussels for 5 days!
During the vernissage, the overall artistic and creative beau monde of Brussels came: art and design lovers, dedicated collectors, aficionados and connoisseurs of the beauty, they all were there! This fair established itself as a global highlight where visitors can witness the collectible design in the making!

The fair has a unique atmosphere and showcases a redefined curation of established and emerging artists and designers! There are collaborations and sections, curations and discoveries such as: MAIN, BESPOKE, NEW GARDE, ARCHITECT, DESIGNER, DIALOGUE and CURATED! This year Collectible present OUTDOOR section on the last 5th floor! For the first time a kids-corner wool run by a non-profit platform Artecetra, which offers educational tours of the fair, focusing on very hot topics nowadays of recycling and up-cycling!
This year TABLEAU studio from Denmark is responsible for the scenography of the fair, which returned to much beloved original location at the Vanderborght Building, near Grand Place, its trademark space is filled with curated booths hosted by mostly European galleries and design studios!

The entrance design revolves around inclusivity and emotional connection, which is considered essential for good design. TABLEAU employs contrast-filled materials, colors and shapes, resulting in unique and unconventional elements in a form of caves: from wire mesh, cloth and sand that cover the entrance reception and bars at the fair!
Collectible will be opening a permanent location at Rue Saint-George in Brussels, to offer bespoke advice, will host exhibitions, private dinners and will reflect the fairs long-standing commitment to innovation and excellence in the field of contemporary design, architecture and art! After visiting this fair you start thinking how to collect!
In September 2024, Collectible will open its first edition in New York, USA! Two ladies-founders: Clelie Debehault and Liv Vaisberg are very enthusiastic about this fact and planning to establish a creative link between Brussels and the Big Apple for the future!
