In the Royal Park Theatre was a musical spectacle which was wrapped up today!
We were lucky to enjoy Paris Cancan, the atmosphere of Moulin Rouge in the very heart of Brussels!

A trivial story of a creative group of artists, which welcomed a young girl, a newcomer, who wanted to be staring at the Moulin Rouge, what’s new in this? Something old, but also something new and the amount of young people in the audience said for itself!

My first and the last time at this theatre was 21 years ago and I had an impression that all the retired people of Brussels came to the theatre then! Today was a different story! Many young faces and plenty of young energy I had experienced in the theatre!

Many students from theatre studies attended this particular musical spectacle, me too, even if my French is still pretty rusty! I did it! The impressive costumes, the festive decor, the colorful scenography and very dynamic choreography made it happened! I got it! I understood the overall message at the end!

It couldn’t be possible over-wise with such the cacophony of colors, sounds and lights! A Broadway piece without leaving Brussels! A classical “Moulin Rouge” story about the King Cancan, which brought together artists for good and for bad! Made them challenged and finally show the beauty and the beast of our human nature! Cancan helped everyone to feel cheered and recognized as artists, but also as humans! A true cultural diplomat was cancan this time! A universal language!

I also realized that I feel very special to be inside a historical Royal Parc theatre! Even if something the stage is not visible s from some corners! At the end I did enjoy the connection between hen and now, history and our nowadays life! I did enjoy the fact that the culture and the esthetics of cancan is still alive and pretty much kicking! Let it be!
